Columbia Boys' Alpine Action Jacket - Waterproof Winter Coat for Kids - Outdoor Snow Jacket for Skiing, Hiking & Cold Weather Adventures

Purchased a large for my 11.5 year old son who is thin and 5'1" tall. Appears to be nearly a perfect fit being about 1 inch long in the arms with the length about mid-thigh area. Should be able to get at least one more year out of this which is what we were hoping for. We made sure to purchase a Columbia jacket with the Omni Heat Thermal lining because my son's previous jacket was the same brand with the same lining and it served my son very well the times he wore it in the NC mountains when tubing. The jacket is thing and lite; but, the Omni Heat Thermal lining works very well in keeping one warm by keeping in ones' body-heat. The funny thing is my son wears it to school here at home (currently 53 degrees) in SC and keeps it on all day because he likes the large internal pocket whereby he can insert a few notes books and whatever else he desires.I chose to give a 4 star rating to this jacket because it's really warm, has option under sleeves for outgrowing kids, quality is amazing. My 6 year old now feels so warm while going to school in the morning because we are on east coast and it's really cold here now in December but this jacket keeps him warm enough and I don't have to worry much:-) the only concern I have is that size is little long for him and I had to fold the sleeves. I guess it would be a 5 star product if length of jacket and sleeves were in proportion to the waist and chest width.But overall, it's a great product. Columbia brand is awesome!!!My son is currently wearing this item. He was about 20 months old when we received it fits him perfectly. When I ordered this item, I had absolutely no idea that it was designed to be turned inside out and the stitching can be removed in order to make this product actually morph into a larger size to "grow with your child". This coat keeps him so warm that it is hard to get him to come in from the cold! We all love it and when he does finally outgrow it, we will order another one in the new size.I bought it for my 13 yr old son and he loves it! Fits him a little large (which I hoped for). We've already had temps below 0 in MN and he says it kept him nice and warm. He likes that the hood has fleece and I like that the coat will grow with him. I went with the Red/Grey and like the bright red so cars can see him in the dark. I'll be happiest if he can wear it through next winter.This is a very cute coat for my 2 year old. 2T is perfect, he might even get another winter out of it. He's an average sized 2 year old. It's not quite as thick as I was hoping. He would need an extra fleece to make it a ski jacket I think.This coat is like an astronaut's spacesuit on the inside. Seriously, I expected to find a packet of Tang in the pocket. I don't know what the material is but it's lightweight and keeps the body heat in. My son loves this coat. He wants to wear it all the time. I like that it's roomy and let's him run and climb. Looks durable and easily cleaned (a good thing when you've got an active kid like my son).This is the 4rd Columbia jacket I've purchased for him and he outgrows them before they wear out.I ordered one size up but it really is too large for use this year. It is lighter weight than what I was actually looking for but I'm hoping my grandson can use it next year. The quality seems to be great.Good jacket, just a little tighter on son than expected when raising arms. So watch size when ordering.
