Ok, if you haven't already sorted it out, these are polyester, so they're going to feel a bit cheap and you'll be like, ugh, why does my kid want to wear shorts made out of the fabric we all ditched when the 70's ended? Because your kid: a) likes pull-on shorts and b) thinks that cheap poly feels smooth and sleek. Your son thinks these shorts are bad-ass and sporty. You will forget the fire hazard these likely are and come back to buy them in other colors.A word about the fit: my son wears a size 6 and is on the skinny side. He does best with shorts with the adjustable waist like you get from Old Navy/The Gap. But you know, he's in a hurry and god forbid he should have to mess with a button or hook and bar closure. He wants PULL UP shorts, Mom. I've bought countless elastic waist band shorts and they all fall off, so we have to roll the waist band. He's outgrown XS from the Gap (they're too short now, still fit in the waist), but the S is still too big in the waist. I bought these hoping that the 5/6 would fit in the waist and length. Verdict: they are definitely long enough (to the knee) but still a bit big in the waist. I rolled the waist the first time he wore them but today, he wore them un-rolled and they never came off and he didn't seem bothered. He loved them. I'm going to say they're a bit tinier in the waist than the other brands I mentioned. My son LOVES them. The quality of the shorts is your standard, synthetic material - not sure how long they will hold up with my active 5yr old. I ordered size 5/6 (I got size 6 Puma shorts that were a little large, so I went with 5/6 on these). They are HUGE. We folded down the waist band twice and they shorts are still below his knees. Granted, he's tall for a 5yr old, but these would probably fit a 10yr old. Since they are so big, even with the rolled up waist band, they still slide down his little butt (he's also really thin). We're keeping them because he needs shorts desperately and since we've moved to the south, it is HOT and humid so much sooner than up north. For the price these are great. They run a bit small and are a little tight around my son's booty and front thighs. The material is silky and pretty nice. My mistake was ordering these along with a pair of Under Armor shorts. The difference in quality is really obvious but then again, these are a 3rd of the price! My son loves them though so I am happy! My son LOVES these crummy shorts. I am giving them only 3 stars because it's the second pair I've bought. First pair quickly ripped at a very loose seam. I actually had the hole mended, because he loved the dizzying pattern and soft, thin fabric. THEN, they ripped elsewhere and a hem came out, so they were relegated to "sleep shorts." They further detiorated and I got rid of them. For $8.00, I wasn't too surprised. On the other hand, I've had other $8.00 shorts, some also STX, that have been much better quality. Fine shorts, but I don't expect them to be much more than practically disposable.Fit as expected and good priceGreat shorts for lacrosse practice. However this pattern is a bit larger than the same size in the non basket weave style. They work out fine when I roll the waist twice.Great quality and my sone really likes them, they're just too big. Waist and length are too big. Should order a size or two smaller than usual.Big compared to other brands and no tie in waste?? Plus no shirt to match online??Lo compré con precio de promoción. Es un short muy cómodo para mi hijo. De buen material resistente y se lava fácilmente sin tener problemas de manchas.
