Ok, if you haven't already sorted it out, these are polyester, so they're going to feel a bit cheap and you'll be like, ugh, why does my kid want to wear shorts made out of the fabric we all ditched when the 70's ended? Because your kid: a) likes pull-on shorts and b) thinks that cheap poly feels smooth and sleek. Your son thinks these shorts are bad-ass and sporty. You will forget the fire hazard these likely are and come back to buy them in other colors.A word about the fit: my son wears a size 6 and is on the skinny side. He does best with shorts with the adjustable waist like you get from Old Navy/The Gap. But you know, he's in a hurry and god forbid he should have to mess with a button or hook and bar closure. He wants PULL UP shorts, Mom. I've bought countless elastic waist band shorts and they all fall off, so we have to roll the waist band. He's outgrown XS from the Gap (they're too short now, still fit in the waist), but the S is still too big in the waist. I bought these hoping that the 5/6 would fit in the waist and length. Verdict: they are definitely long enough (to the knee) but still a bit big in the waist. I rolled the waist the first time he wore them but today, he wore them un-rolled and they never came off and he didn't seem bothered. He loved them. I'm going to say they're a bit tinier in the waist than the other brands I mentioned.My son LOVES them.
